Kensic LLC ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Kensic mobile application and website (kensic.app).

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

• Account data: When you sign in, we store your authentication credentials (email or social login provider ID) to identify your account.
• Signup information: If you sign up for launch notifications, we collect your name and email address.
• Payment information: If you subscribe to Kensic Premium, payment is processed by Stripe or your device's app store (Google Play / Apple App Store). We do not store your credit card details.

Information stored on your device (not collected by us):

• App content: People, activities, locations, interests, groups, relationships, frames, and other data you create within the app are stored locally on your device only. We never receive, transmit, or have access to this data.
• Location data: When you use location features (e.g., logging activities on the map), the app accesses your device's GPS. This data remains on your device and is never sent to our servers.

Bluetooth communication:

• Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE): When you enable the Broadcast feature, your device transmits a short, encrypted identifier over BLE so nearby Kensic users can recognize each other. No personal data is included in the broadcast — only a hashed, anonymized token. BLE data is processed locally on each device and is never sent to our servers.

Information collected automatically:

• Device information: Basic device type and OS version for crash reporting and compatibility.
• Error reports: If the app encounters a crash or error, anonymized diagnostic data (stack traces, device type, OS version) may be sent to our error monitoring service (Sentry) to help us fix bugs. These reports do not contain your personal content or app data.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the Kensic app and its features
• To process subscription payments via Stripe or app stores
• To send you a one-time launch notification when the app is available (if you signed up)
• To improve app stability and fix bugs

3. Data Storage

All your app data (people, activities, frames, etc.) is stored locally on your device using encrypted local storage. We never have access to this data.

Afternoon tier (personal cloud backup): If you enable cloud backup, your data is stored in your chosen cloud provider (Google Drive, iCloud, or OneDrive) under your own account. Backups go directly to your personal cloud storage — we do not store, access, or process any copies of your data.

Night tier (Kensic-hosted backup): If you subscribe to the Night tier, your backups are encrypted on your device before upload and stored on Kensic-hosted servers (up to 10 GB). Your data is encrypted at rest and in transit. We cannot read or access the contents of your encrypted backups.

Account authentication data and subscription records are stored securely in our cloud infrastructure.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We share data only with:

• Stripe: For processing subscription payments (name, email, payment status).
• Cloud infrastructure provider: For authentication, subscription record storage, and serverless functions that support app features.
• Google Play / Apple App Store: For in-app purchase processing.
• Sentry: For anonymized crash and error reporting to improve app stability.

5. Meld & Content Reporting

Kensic's Meld feature allows users to share data with nearby users over Bluetooth. If a recipient reports shared content as harmful or inappropriate, we may collect the reported data, its origin metadata (including the sender's anonymized identifier), and the reporter's description of the concern. This information is used solely to investigate reports and take appropriate action, such as restricting a user's access to sharing features.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data and subscription records for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your account data within 30 days. Anonymized error reports (Sentry) are retained for 90 days. Content reports submitted through Meld may be retained for up to 12 months to support ongoing safety investigations.

7. Your Rights

• Access: You can view all data stored in the app at any time.
• Deletion: You can delete your local app data at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing app data. You may also request account deletion by contacting support@kensic.app.
• Export: You can export your data from within the app.
• Opt out: You can opt out of cloud features and use the app entirely offline.

8. Cookies

The Kensic website (kensic.app) uses cookies for hosting and analytics purposes. Analytics cookies collect anonymous, aggregated data about page views, site performance, and visitor demographics. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party ad tracking.

9. Children's Privacy

Kensic is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

10. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted local storage (SQLCipher), HTTPS for all network communications, and secure cloud infrastructure. Stripe handles all payment data and is PCI-DSS compliant. Night tier backups are encrypted on your device before upload, ensuring we cannot access your backup contents.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when this policy was last revised.
